‘In the Footsteps of Crazy Horse’
An interdisciplinary unit was incorporated into all 7th-grade core classes. The book, “In the Footsteps of Crazy Horse,” by Joseph Marshall, was read and analyzed with the objectives: 1) to increase cultural understanding within the population of our school and 2) to be proactive in cultural inclusiveness in the state, incorporating the Oceti Sakowin Essential Understandings and Standards for South Dakota Social Studies into the English-Language Arts curriculum.
